2011 Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico

I wish I had more to say about tonight’s wine. I’m a fan of Chianti Classico, it’s one of my favorites for pairing with food, and Chianti Classicos are relative values in the wine world.

Tonight’s wine was reasonably priced and tasty. That’s about as far as I can go. Well-balanced if lacking complexity or fruit. It did need a little time to open up, and definitely hit the spot paired with Chicago-style deep dish pizza.  A very easy drinker if you are looking for something to serve at a party alongside a variety of dishes. It won’t offend anyone, but it won’t particularly excite anyone either. Definitely not one to drink on its own, you’ll get bored pretty quick, but a safe bet and a bottle that would work extremely well for cooking.
