Easy Garlic Bread
When I eat pasta with red sauce, I crave garlic bread. This is less of a recipe, and more a basic technique, but one that I use every time I make garlic bread.
First, the bread. You can use anything you like, but my favorite is ciabatta or any other flat style loaf. Baguettes and batards work well too.
Then, make your garlic butter spread. I mix minced garlic (or cloves pushed through a garlic press) butter, and extra virgin olive oil with a little garlic powder, salt, and finely chopped fresh parsley or dried Italian seasoning. Combine the ingredients into a spreadable paste.
Slice your bread in half horizontally like you are making a big sandwich. Spread the garlic butter all over the inside of both slices, then put them back together and wrap in aluminum foil.
Place on a baking sheet and bake in a 350 F oven for 15 to 20 minutes. You want it to get warm and let the spread soak into the bread.
Take the bread out, open the sandwich up, then put them back on the sheet pan, buttery goodness facing up. From here you can add grated cheese if you wish, I do sometimes, but it certainly doesn’t need it.
Then pop the bread underneath the broiler until it is brown, crusty and delicious!
